MGE™

Our Modular GIS Environment (MGE), introduced in 1988, is a complete geographic information system (GIS) that uses MicroStation® as its graphics engine and design file for graphics storage. This architecture has proven very robust, and a full suite of MGE products is available to make use of MGE data structures. MicroStation V8 introduced some major changes to the design file structure, making it too costly to continue to enhance our design-file-based GIS when Intergraph’s GeoMedia product line is better suited for the future. For that reason, Intergraph has decided not to port MGE to MicroStation V8, but rather to continue supporting and maintaining the MGE products on MicroStation V7. Bentley plans to continue supporting MicroStation V7 for an extended period of time. MGE’s latest version is Version 8; there are no plans at this time to release a new version.
